Chapter Three
I was corrected: they’ve been together for six years. Which is fine with me, since four is an unlucky number anyway. One of the many reasons why I love this world is because it’s a life already built. They’ve weathered through the worst (or so they think) and there are no surprises anymore — except, you know, when there are. And I mean that like, they will always be best friends. This is the type of relationship I believe in the most — one that stems from friendship. You can’t let your attraction get the best of you. You have to know when to cut the shit, when to be afraid of what the other thinks but not too afraid to stand up for yourself. I think that’s what can make friendship kind of invincible, that unspoken safety net of, hey, I chose you to be my friend because I like you — and I think that will always be the essence of their relationship. At the core, they are just perfectly comfortable with each other. They like doing things together because they laugh at the same things, they cry at the same things, they fight over the same consistent things. (Sound familiar?) So yeah, this is them.
But there’s a difference, you know? There’s a difference between, like, “I’m not afraid of anything because I know I’ll always have you,” and Hankyung thinking that Heechul is the most beautiful man he’s ever seen in his life. Which, they are also that.
